At least 70 cyclists of all ages gathered at Pardee Plaza on the USC campus for bike skills training and then headed up Figueroa together to experience a day of car-free fun at CicLAvia on October 18, 2015. As the kick-off to the BikeSafe USC Campaign to improve bike safety skills in the area around campus, by any measure the event was a great success. In addition to the enthusiastic bike riders, another 40 or so attendees participated in events at Pardee Plaza, including free bike lights, bike registration, and information on planned bicycle and pedestrian improvements coming to Figueroa in 2016. BikeSafe USC is a coalition of student groups such as the USC Bicycle Coalition, Environmental Student Assembly, and Associated Students of Planning + Development, with USC Staff in Transportation, Sustainability, Student Wellness, Protective Services and the City of LA
